My first major media article!

You know how adults love to ask little kids what they want to be when they grow up? Usually the answer is something along the lines of a firefighter, an astronaut, or if you’re a kid these days, a TikTok star or rapper. For me, the answer has always been that I wanted to be a writer. When I think back to what made me want to write, I don’t actually remember. Perhaps it was an answer that my mom fed to me only for me to later adopt it as my own dream.

As I got older I realized that it really was something that I enjoyed. I journaled in high school and college, blogged after college, started a magazine at 25 years old and launched my second magazine at 35. Outside of school assignments, I spent my life writing for myself when I felt passionate about something. That’s why when the chance arose to write for the Huffington Post about the inaugural Juneteenth Fire Island, it felt like the perfect intersection of preparation meeting opportunity.

Big shoutout to my friend Victor Jeffreys II for making this happen. You can check out the article here.
